Political entity agents are party workers who are nominated by registered political entities to observe the voter registration and electoral processes on behalf of their political entities. Only political entities registered by IHEC are entitled to nominate agents and only political entity agents accredited by IHEC will be allowed to have access to observe the political process.

Political entity agents play a dual role. Firstly they observe electoral processes and report whether or not they were conducted in accordance with Iraqi law and international standards. Secondly they protect the interests of their political entities in the electoral process.

Political entities must apply to the IHEC to have their agents accredited using forms 134 or 135. These can be obtained from national and governorate and Kurdistan regional elections offices and should be submitted together with a copy of the Political Entity Certificate issued by IHEC.
