Election Observers
This is one of the most important jobs in the election process. An election observer ensures that the transparency and integrity of the electoral process is maintained so that people can be assured that the final result really does represent the will of the majority.
Election observers are representatives of domestic and international organisations with missions registered and accredited by the IHEC. Their job is to observe the electoral processes and report whether or not they were conducted according to international standards.
Domestic organisations registered with the Assistance Office for NGOs or in the NGO Register at the ministries of Civil Society Affairs and of Planning can apply for observer status. Applications should be made using Form 131 or 132, which can be obtained from IHEC offices across the country.
International organisations should send their applications to the IHEC HQ in Baghdad or the KRG election office.
