How to Vote

On voting day go to the polling station nearest you with one piece of photo ID. Make sure that the ID you take with you has the same name and spelling as your name on the Voter List. The election official will check your name against the list and give you a ballot paper.

The ballot paper will contain the names of the political entities standing for election.  In addition, there will be space for you to indicate the candidate of your choice within that political entity.

Once you have received the ballot paper you will be asked to go behind the voting screen where you can mark your ballot in private.

If you spoil your paper – for example if you mark the wrong candidate or political entity or you want to change your mind - notify an election official immediately, return the spoiled ballot and you will be issued a new ballot. The election official will place the spoiled ballot in a special envelope and enter a note in the polling station journal.

Once you are satisfied that you have made the right decision you should fold the ballot paper according to given instructions and place it in the ballot box under the supervision of an election official. Your finger will then be dipped in indelible ink to prevent you from voting a second time in this election.

Remember, your vote is private. You cannot be forced to tell anyone how you voted. You are encouraged to report to an election official or the police if anybody tries to make you reveal whom you voted for, or prevents you from voting at all.
