The IHEC Spokesperson and Member of the Board of Commissioner (BoC), Mr. Safa al Mosawi confirmed on 10 November that  spending on the electoral campaign would achieve transparency in how the money is collected and spent on the campaign, in addition to prohibit illicit financial sources to fund the campaign.

Mr. al Mosawi said that this spending will lead to create equal opportunities for competition between political entities and candidates in the elections. It would also solve the issue of buying the votes, monopolizing the electoral process and disrupting the elections and political life.

He also called on political entities and candidate to open accounts in the accredited Iraqi banks for the electoral spending and submit their initial financial reports during (30) days from the announcement of results.
