Statement issued by the Board of Commissioners of the IHEC



A statement issued by the Board of Commissioners in the IHEC in order to complete its procedures relating to the results of the polling day. In accordance with these legal procedures, the Commission began to receive the appeals of the electoral lists participating in the polling day as well as the candidates a few days ago. The period of receipt of appeals will end at the end of official working hours on Thursday, (31/5/2018). The Commission has also begun to publish lists of successful and unsuccessful candidates and the number of seats for the winning electoral lists in the House of Representatives in the local newspapers (Assabah Ajadid, Albaianah Aljadidah and Al-Zawra Newspaper).

Those affected by the results, whether electoral lists or candidates, can submit their objections to the Electoral Judiciary committee at the Federal Court of Cassation.


The Electoral Commission began a few days ago handing over the pictures of ballot papers to those eligible persons for electoral lists which participated in the electoral process through its offices in Baghdad and the provinces.
Those who wish to obtain such images should bringing hardships by authorized representative to obtain copies of the ballot papers through visiting the IHEC’S offices in the governorates and even on public holidays. The Board of Commissioners seriously considers all appeals submitted by parties and candidates and works professionally and impartially and stands at one distance from everyone. The BOC is keen to preserve the votes of voters and holds this great responsibility entrusted to him as representing the institution that manages and organizes the electoral processes.
It is seen that the path of genuine democracy and its basic foundations is an important and vital part of its responsibilities set by the Iraqi constitution.
